BROADWAY BABIES
A poetic review

This is a story of success,
Thought of and staged by the theatre "MESS'.

In search of fame and decent pay
Young people hurried to Broadway.
And, eager to achieve ambition,
They all performed in an audition.
They danced and did a pantomime,
There was reciting of a rhyme,
There was a many-talent boy,
A girl that filled my heart with joy:
She didn't seem to have quick wits,
But had impressive ass and tits.
Despite all this the hot seducer
Failed to impress the mean producer,
Who didn't bother varying text
And just kept saying, 'Next! Next! Next!'

Upset by being called a loser,
A mere begger-no-chooser,
A pretty female understudy
Cried on the shoulder of her buddy.
The bitter tears of the child
Drove her friend completely wild.
This other girl had been designed
With lots of will and mighty mind.
She offered to forget the blow
And stage their own Broadway show.
The trick now was to puzzle out
What their show would be about.
While one was all for dancing tap,
The other loved hip-hop and rap.
They both began to yell and shout
And in the end the friends fell out.
They called each other 'bitch' and 'shrew'
And gathered each her own crew.
Producer said that those who win
Would go on Broadway stage with him.
In spite of having empty belly
The dancers danced till feet went smelly.
But even then they toiled like hell,
Ignoring the revolting smell.
The singers worked at perfect sound
Until they fell onto the ground.
When talking of the rival crew,
They called them every name they knew.

One of the singers, sweet and small,
Thought she could sing the best of all.
At night, by trembling candle flickers,
She practiced, dressed in bra and knickers.
At this she was overheard
By dancer boy, a total nerd.
After a very brief flirtation
The girl failed to resist temptation.
Instead of serving sacred art
To pimpled youth she gave her heart.
The singers all were really pissed,
The dancers also spat and hissed.
But then, forgetting their rage,
Joined dance and singing on the stage.
And the producer made it plain
(For actors haven't got much brain)
That their number was OK
To earn them dinner on Broadway,
Which caused a lot of joy and laughter,
And all lived happily ever after.
